XTO helps fund child-parent focused learning program in Butler County, Pa.
In an effort to help kids between the ages of 3 and 11 learn science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), XTO Energy has partnered with community-supported television station WQED and the Prospect Community Library in Butler County, Penn., to start a new, year-long, out-of-school program.
Inquire Within is designed to encourage family engagement and love of learning through hands-on, family-centered activities. The program will use PBS programs and characters to educate children on STEM subjects.
“PBS and public libraries are two of the most trusted sources by parents for the education and entertainment of early learners,” said Jill Hambley, librarian, Prospect Community Library. “XTO Energy’s generous financial support allows us to create innovative and imaginative programming using research-based, parent-trusted content from PBS.”
“XTO Energy has a commitment that is deeply rooted in our culture to strengthen communities by advancing education opportunities, particularly those in science, technology, engineering and math,” said Steve Forde, Appalachia public and government affairs manager, XTO Energy. “We are excited to help fund this new program for the children and families in Prospect.”
