Barnett Shale - XTO entered the Barnett Shale play in January 2004 with a small acquisition and has rapidly become a dominant player. The Company holds a position of about 250,000 net acres of which approximately 50% lie in the prolific core area of the play. XTO not only acquired producing properties in the Barnett Shale play but also initiated an aggressive leasing program which accounts for roughly half the Company's acreage position. Current production is 620 MMcf/d (gross).
